Renwick Gallery in Washington DC

Titled “the Midnight Garden” artist Jennifer Angus covered the pink room of the Renwick Gallery with thousands of insect bodies (made of a range of materials). The pattern shows skulls, circles and insect swarms. I really like the three dimensional quality of the pattern and the fragility of the insects. The colour pink relates to the insects. Insects used to be used in colour making which produced pink and red tones. Even though the pattern includes symbols of death and rather unpopular bugs, the overall ambience is friendly and inviting most likely due to the choice of colours.
