Stop-Motion Workshop

For this week’s project I chose to do animation. The aim of this brief is to create a stop-motion movie with a character based on me. Today’s workshop showed us how to make such a movie by taking lots of photos and for each shot changing the position of the puppet slightly. These photos will be played in a row, which creates the illusion of the character moving. We used Adobe After Effects to do this. Stop-motion animation requires lots of patience, which is not really my strongest suit. However, I am hoping to gain greater insight into the film industry’s animation techniques nowadays as movie scenery and makeup has such a magical effect on the audience.
